This two-day course is designed for qualified electricians who want to learn about the technical requirements and practical considerations when installing Plug-In Electric Vehicle charging points.
This new qualification replaces the C&G 2919 and includes further methods of protecting against open PEN conductor faults, how to assess if an installation has an issue with diverted neutral current, integration into prosumers electrical installations and reverse feeding into the installation or back to the grid.

Course Outline:
This two-day course is designed for qualified electricians who want to learn about the technical requirements and practical considerations when installing Plug-In Electric Vehicle charging points.
Course includes:
- Introduction to Electric Vehicles – Electric Vehicle types.• Characteristics, Charging requirements, Safety considerations.• Overview of Electric Vehicle charging
- Modes of Electric Vehicle charging, requirements and restrictions.
- Electrical Installation Requirements. Supply, Earthing, Planning permission, Explosive atmospheres, Protection, Labelling, Control, Risk assessment.
- Protecting against open PEN conductor faults.
- Integration into prosumers electrical installations
- Reverse feeding into the installation or back to the grid.
- Inspection, Test and Certification.
- Commissioning and DNO paperwork.
- Risk Assessment and pre & post-installation checklists.
- System Test, Fault Finding and Examination.
- Islanding mode.
The course Includes an online theory exam.
This course covers the installer to install both Domestic and Small Commercial charge point installations.
Learning Materials Needed: You will need to attend this course with an up to date copy of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation – 5th Edition & Latest BS7671 18th Edition Regs Book plus On Site Guide (these books are not included).

Learner entry requirements This course is intended for practicing electricians as part of the assessment for this qualification. Learners must hold one of the following:
- City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (2357)
- City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance) (2357)
- City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification (5357)
- City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker (2356)
- City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346)

- Other Awarding Organisations equivalences will also be acceptable
