This 5 day City & Guilds Solar PV Installer qualification is for those wishing to achieve a nationally recognised qualification in the installation and maintenance of small scale grid tied Photovoltaic systems. It is based on the National Occupational Standards and is recognised and accepted by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
The 5-Day City & Guilds Solar PV and Battery Storage Course provides installers with a thorough understanding of the design, installation, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) in domestic and small commercial settings.
The course aligns with the IET Code of Practice for Grid-Connected Solar PV Systems, relevant regulations, and the latest National Occupational Standards (NOS) SPV01, and is recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
This course is designed for qualified electricians seeking CPD in solar PV and EESS. It equips participants with the knowledge and skills to:
-
Understand statutory legislation and compliance for EESS
-
Design and specify battery and PV systems
-
Install, inspect and test EESS
-
Properly hand over PV and battery systems to clients
With rising electricity tariffs and evolving PV incentives, homeowners and small businesses are increasingly investing in solar PV and battery storage. Installers now have a unique opportunity to:
-
Optimise existing installations for better returns
-
Advise clients on maximising summer energy generation
-
Guide clients on purchasing cheaper off-peak electricity during winter
Unlike manufacturer-specific seminars, this course provides a balanced, independent overview of multiple technologies and solutions, enabling informed decisions for both installers and clients.
The City and Guilds Solar PV Systems Course (Level 3) and Small Electrical Energy Storage Systems Course (EESS) (Level 3) run together to give an overall view of the technologies.
