Update to Building Regulations
December 7, 2024In today’s blog, we take a look at the latest industry news. From the price cap right through to the most recent government funding plans. Grab a cuppa and strap in, this is going to be a good one.
First things first (which probably does not come as a surprise) the price cap is on the move again. Ofgem have announced an increase of 1.2% for the first quarter of 2025, making the estimated annual bill £1,738. Whilst this may not seem like much, this combined with other factors in the industry will accelerate the adoption of renewable technologies. In turn, increasing consumer demand.
Speaking of Ofgem, they have also recently announced a lucrative fund (over 5 billion pounds) to encourage the ‘renewable switch.’ This fund is a huge milestone for the industry if approved. In short, this will help companies manufacture and rollout renewable technologies quicker, minimising delays.
Saving the best till last. The ‘Warm Homes Plan’ has been launched by our government, with the sole aim of making heating more green and saving people money on their bills. This initiative will see upwards of 300,000 homes benefiting, and rollout a number of grants for heat pumps. In turn, making the installation of these technologies cheaper and more affordable for low income families.
The government is also set to make the installation of heat pumps not only cheaper, but easier. This will be done by removing barriers to entry brought about by unnecessary planning permissions, which ultimately halted the adoption of the systems. Without these, their will be an uptake in demand and a need for more qualified installers.
The above changes will all help the industry grow, and make the technologies cheaper for consumers, and installers. There really hasn’t been a better time to get involved in the industry, and maximise profits for you and your team.
