Heat Pumps to Be Made Mandatory in New Builds
October 17, 2024The Latest Industry News
December 1, 2024In today’s blog, we take a look at the latest data on renewable energy in relation to electricity and heat generation. Spoiler. It’s big!
It has been reported by REA (The Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology) that a whopping 47% of the UK’s electricity comes from renewable sources (such as solar, and battery systems.) This is an increase of 32% (from just 15% in 2014.) This demonstrates how the current government is pushing renewable technology, with the sector having a value of over £24 billion in 2023, and an estimated value of over £40 billion by 2035. You may have also seen in our newsletter last week that EV’s have also seen an uptake in 2024 (with EV car sales increasing by 20%.) Further demonstrating the acceptance and adoption of renewables by consumers.
The heating side of the industry has seen a slower uptake, with it making up 9.4% of the heating sector. However, this just means there is a bigger gap that needs filling by technical operatives who are adequately trained in the installation of heat pumps and other renewable heating systems. By training now and taking advantage of schemes like the £500 government heat pump training vouchers, you position yourself at the forefront of the renewable revolution.
The key takeaway from this blog is that the industry is not going anywhere and will continue to rapidly expand. It is installers however who are going to make this happen. With renewables currently sitting at just over 15% across all sectors, there is still huge untapped potential.
We advise equipping yourself with as many renewable technologies as possible. However, calling us and having a chat with a real human is the best way to determine which route is right for you and your team. You can also view the different course sectors on our website which are categorised into electrical and plumbing and heating.
It’s time to take the leap with GRE.
