This 3 day City and Guilds Solar Photovoltaic Systems Course is for those wanting to achieve a nationally recognised certification in the design, installation and maintenance of small scale grid tied Photovoltaic systems. It is recognised and accepted by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
Unlike a manufacturers seminar, our course gives you a balanced view of the different manufacturers offerings allowing you to make an informed decision about the best solutions for you and you customer.
Course Content
This course covers everything a Solar PV installer needs:
- Solar PV resource assessment (inc new performance calcs)
- Grid connection requirements
- AC & DC electrical theory & practical for Solar PV
- Basic roofing structures & integrity issues
- Hands-on Solar PV panel mounting
- Mechanical installation of roof fixings
- Setting to work/commissioning
- System testing
- Paperwork and test forms
- Financial incentives, payback
- Solar PV system maintenance
- Handover packs & customer care
Entry Requirements:
Learners must hold one of the following:
• City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment
(Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (2357)
• City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
(2357)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification (5357)
• City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker (2356)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification
(2347)
• Other Awarding Organisations equivalences will also be acceptable
• Equivalent historical qualifications Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (see latest
version link)
or
• ECS Gold Card issued by the JIB or SJIB – Installation Electrician, Maintenance
Electrician, or Domestic Electrician.
For all learners, the qualifications above must have been achieved no more than 5 years prior
to starting this qualification or there must be evidence the learner has remained current by
holding the latest edition of the Wiring regulations qualification.
Certification: Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Small Solar Photovoltaic Systems
