This 2-day BPEC Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) course is aimed at qualified electrical installers who want to install systems that can benefit from battery storage, enabling electrical energy to be stored for later use.
With changes to Solar PV tariffs, customers are increasingly looking for alternative ways to improve returns from their PV energy systems.
This presents a valuable opportunity for installers to revisit previous installations and advise customers on how to maximise the performance of their Solar PV systems, by storing excess energy generated during the summer months and utilising cheaper off-peak electricity during the winter.
Unlike manufacturer-led seminars, this course provides a balanced overview of a range of battery storage solutions. This allows you to make informed decisions about the most suitable products and systems for both you and your customers.
Course Outline:
- Introduction to Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS)
- Understanding the components and system architectures involved
- EESS applications and operating modes
- AC vs DC battery systems
- Identification of battery types and their characteristics for EESS
- Electrical regulations and standards, including the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems and MIS 3012
- Safety considerations and system planning
- Design, specification, sizing, and installation of EESS
- Self-consumption calculations based on MGD 003
- DNO approval and grid connection process
- Health and safety requirements
- Inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance
- Handover procedures and documentation
