Solar Rollout Gets A Boost
December 11, 2023New Heat Pump Installation Quotas for 2024
January 3, 2024In todays blog, as we approach the end of the year, we look back on what has overall been a very successful year for renewables. The year saw an increase in the installation of a number of technologies, such as solar pv and heat pumps, and a growing consumer understanding of the importance of these technologies for both environmental implications and as cost saving means. The year also saw a number of government initiatives and grants to help meet their net zero targets by 2035, which were beneficial for the consumer and installer alike (as we saw here at GRE with the heat pump vouchers.) In addition, 2023 saw a dramatic fall in the cost of these technologies, in particular that of solar pv which is currently at an all-time low, and has bolstered the installation of it for both domestic and commercial use.
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme reported a 62% jump in the installation of heat pumps and dollar panels, in comparison to 2023, with 120,000 certified solar panels, heat pumps and other renewable technologies being installed across the UK (“UK Sees Record Number of Solar Panel and Heat Pump Installs in 2023,” 2023.) This increase in installations is only expected to grow in the new year, with the price of the technology falling and the energy price cap increasing by 5% in January (“Martin Lewis: What the Energy Price Cap Change Means for You,” 2023.) In short, this means consumers will look to these alternate energy sources to reduce their energy bills, with no clear solution outlined from the government as of yet. Therefore, creating an opportunity for installers who can provide these alternative energy sources as consumers take things into their own hands.
It has also been an exciting year for GRE amongst the midst of new initiatives and changing consumer attitudes to renewable technologies, as well as new staff members joining us. Whether you have come to our centre for training, or just read our weekly blog, we want to say a massive thank you for your continued support.
