New Heat Pump Installation Quotas for 2024
January 3, 20242024 Solar PV Roadmap Overview
January 9, 2024We are happy to announce that we have been allocated an additional run of £500 heat pump training vouchers. In celebration, we look over some recent findings around the technology, as well as the reveal of additional government funding for 2024.
There has long been debate surrounding the efficiency of heat pumps, especially with the extreme climate the UK sees in winter. However, a recent study from Oxford University puts the record straight, and the record is clear – heat pumps still use ‘significantly less energy’ than other traditional heating sources (“Oxford University Study Proves That Heat Pumps Work!,” 2023.) Whilst there is no debate that heat pumps are more efficient in warmer conditions, due to the way in which they convert air, it does not mean they should be disregarded, and they are still more environmentally friendly than the alternatives. In fact, similar to other renewable technologies, heat pumps perform ‘three times’ more efficiently in the UK climate, even when accounting for colder conditions (“Oxford University Study Proves That Heat Pumps Work!,” 2023.) This is an excellent study that has been carried out by the university, and is sure to dispel some of the unnecessary negative press surrounding the technology, and serves as an excellent opportunity for installers and consumers alike.
In addition to this, it has just been announced that the government has pledged ‘an additional £1.5 billion in funding to the boiler upgrade scheme’ (“MCS Comment – Government Allocating £1.5b to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme,” 2023.) Therefore, more homeowners ‘across England and Wales can install low carbon heating,’ and this will in turn support the Governments ‘ambitions to install 600,000 heat pumps by 2028’ (“MCS Comment – Government Allocating £1.5b to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme,” 2023.)
The above, as well as the other news and initiatives coming in 2024, make it the perfect time to take advantage of our heat pump vouchers, and mean that you can become fully qualified in the installation of air and ground source heat pumps (granting you meet the requirements) for just £295 + VAT.
