The government’s 2024 roadmap has far more emphasis on the commercial application of solar pv, when compared with previous years. In 2023, we saw an increase in the rollout of solar pv for domestic uses, primarily on homes, but the commercial side still remains ‘untapped’ (“UK To Unveil Solar Roadmap in 2024,” 2023.) This would include ‘schools, warehouses and car parks,’ (“UK To Unveil Solar Roadmap in 2024,” 2023) all of which would help the government reach their energy targets, which are to increase ‘solar capacity by nearly fivefold to 70GW by 2035’ (“‘Untapped Potential’ of Commercial Buildings Could Revolutionise UK Solar Power,” 2023.)

This commercial rollout, is brilliant for the consumer, but also for installers, especially those who develop their knowledge in commercial installation, and has been pushed by a dedicated task force for the application of commercial use in 2024.
