The latest MCS figures for Q3 2026 provide a snapshot of how the renewable energy market has changed over the third quarter of the year.

Compared with Q2, certified installations increased across Solar PV, Battery Storage and Heat Pumps, while the number of certified installers and products varied between the different technologies.

Here’s a look at the latest figures.

Solar PV

Solar PV saw a significant increase in certified installations during Q3.

There were 75,331 certified Solar PV installations between July and September, compared with 58,061 in Q2 – an increase of 29.7%.

The number of certified installers also increased slightly, from 4,357 to 4,441, while certified products rose from 145,692 to 148,512.

Battery Storage

Battery Storage recorded the largest percentage increase in certified installations.

Q3 saw 23,912 certified battery installations, up from 17,963 in Q2 – an increase of 33.1%.

The number of certified battery installers also increased, rising from 2,707 to 2,863 – an increase of 5.8%.

Heat Pumps

Heat pump installations also increased during Q3, with 14,161 certified installations recorded compared with 10,789 in Q2 – an increase of 31.3%.

The number of certified installers, however, fell slightly from 2,241 to 2,188, while certified products increased from 4,522 to 4,576.

What Do the Q3 Figures Show?

The Q3 figures show continued growth in certified installations across all three technologies:

  • Solar PV: 75,331 installations – up 29.7%
  • Battery Storage: 23,912 installations – up 33.1%
  • Heat Pumps: 14,161 installations – up 31.3%

While installations increased across each category, changes in the number of certified installers were more varied. Solar PV and Battery Storage both saw increases, while Heat Pumps saw a slight decrease.
