Why Solar PV?
September 20, 2023New Heat Pump Initiative on The Scene
October 10, 2023The government is set on ‘decarbonizing’ the way in which businesses and homes are heated. In turn, making heat pumps, and more specifically the knowledge on how to install them, priceless in the very near future, especially with the government target to install 600,000 heat pumps by 2028 (gov.uk.)
Heat pumps function by using heat from the environment, either from the air, ground or local water supply, gathering it, and using it to produce heat. This is done through the refrigerant, which is evaporated through the process and turned into gas, which is then pressurized and depressurized, both heating and cooling it.
Now you know a little more about the technology, and the government’s plans with it, you may be asking why are they so beneficial in helping reach net zero? The way in which businesses and households heat their properties contributes massively to global emissions. Therefore, by switching the way in which these properties are heated, we can cut emissions. Heat pumps also benefit from the growth of other renewable energy sources, such as solar pv, as the more these grow the cleaner the energy that supplies the heat pumps becomes.
