Energy Prices Set to Increase Along With Price Cap
July 23, 2024I Took Bpec’s Heat Pump Course at GRE
September 3, 2024At GRE, we are advocates for quality training for heat pumps and other renewable technologies, and agree with the consensus that it is the single most important factor for quality and efficient installations. In a previous blog, we spoke about the benefits of being MCS registered as an installer, with the majority of our courses allowing you to join the scheme. In this iteration, we examine the latest MCS data on heat pump and other renewable installations, and what this means for the landscape and installers alike.
According to the latest data, 30,317 certified air source heat pump installations have been carried out so far this year, which is around 45% higher than in 2023 for the same period. In turn, demonstrating the uptake in demand for heat pump systems, and a changing consumer consensus towards the technology. There is still a lot of work to be done, however this uptake will positively contribute to the final figure of heat pump installations for 2024, and should instil confidence in installers that renewable technology is here to stay, and profit is to be made in the long term.
Let’s not exclude the electrical side of things, considering the role decarbonisation of the grid has in Labour’s net zero plans. The latest MCS data reveals that so far in 2024, 93,573 homes have had certified solar panels installed, and electric energy storage system installations reached close to 8,000 for the same period. Similar to heat pump installations, this is a huge increase when compared with previous years, and it is refreshing to finally see a more widespread acceptance of these technologies.
Chris Hewett, CEO at Solar Energy UK, said:
“We should also celebrate reaching the milestone of 1.5 million MCS-scale solar installations this spring, not to mention battery storage systems, the natural partner to solar PV, hitting a new record last month. It’s safe to say that now is something of a golden era for smaller-scale sustainable energy.”
Ian Rippin, CEO at MCS, said:
“As the decarbonisation of UK homes gathers pace, it’s vital that homeowner confidence in renewables continues to grow alongside that to sustain demand. High-quality installations are key to this because we want everyone to enjoy the benefits of home-grown energy, so it’s fantastic to see these record numbers for certified installations.
The above demonstrates the importance quality installation has in helping homeowners feel confident in opting for renewable alternatives, and is why it is imperative that you receive the highest possible quality of training possible. Our trainers go above and beyond in delivering not only theory based learning, but hands on practical experience with working systems for both the heating and electrical side of the coin. It is this practical experience that our trainers bring that sets us apart from other training providers, and makes our candidates such competent installers.
